SIM vs eSIM: what’s the difference?
SIM is a small chip card that goes into your phone’s SIM slot, while an eSIM is built into the phone and can be activated simply by scanning a QR Code, with no SIM card to insert.
eSIM How to use?
- Once you have received the eSIM QR code
- Go to Settings (Settings)
- Go to “Connection” or “Mobile data (Cellular)”
- Select “Add Cellular Plan” or “Add eSIM”
- Scan the QR code or enter the plan details manually
- Scan the QR code you received by e-mail, or add the eSIM by entering the plan details manually
- Wait a moment while your phone installs the eSIM
*Internet is required for installation; we recommend installing before your flight.
- Get started:
- Once the eSIM is added, just turn on Data Roaming when you arrive at your destination to use the internet.

How many days before travel should I buy an eSIM?
You can order an eSIM anywhere, anytime — even after you’ve arrived at your destination.
After you order, we will send the eSIM to your email within 24 hrs. If you need it urgently, just let the Samurai staff know (business hours 9:00-23:00)
If you want to order in advance, you can order up to 90 days before travel, or 60 days (for eSIM Japan IIJ).
Can I share a hotspot?
